What is a GEDCOM file?
GEDCOM is a data structure for storing and exchanging genealogical information so that many computer programs can use it. A GEDCOM file can contain information on events such as births, deaths, census records, ship records, marriages, etc.
How can I download my family tree as a GEDCOM file?
Ancestry
- Login to your Ancestry.com account and click "Trees"
- Click "Tree settings" of a tree that you want to export.
- Find "Manage your tree" section and click "Download your GEDCOM file", then click "Export".
MyHeritage
- Login to your MyHeritage account and go to Manage Family Trees.
- Click "Export to GEDCOM" of a tree that you want to export.
