What is the Ancient Eastern European Report?

Updated over 2 weeks ago

It's an ancestry report that connects your DNA to real ancient people from Eastern Europe and the Baltic region. Instead of comparing you to modern populations, we match your genome to 228 carefully selected ancient genomes β€” real individuals excavated from archaeological sites, radiocarbon-dated, and peer-reviewed.

The report works on two levels. First, you'll see a regional breakdown across eight geographic anchors (Russia, Ukraine, Poland, and the Baltic states) that shows where your ancient DNA patterns are strongest. Second, you get a ranked list of actual ancient people whose DNA is most similar to yours β€” complete with the sites they were found, what era they lived in, and how closely they match you genetically.

We've built this on genomes from Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Ukraine, Moldova, and western Russia, spanning roughly 36,000 years of prehistory β€” from ice-age hunter-gatherers all the way through the medieval period.
