I have a strong signal in a region where I don't have any known ancestry. Why?

Some regional anchors capture deep shared ancestry or population continuity signals that reach far beyond individual recent family histories. This is especially common for the steppe-ancestry signal and for Baltic hunter-gatherer ancestry.

It doesn't mean your records are wrong β€” it just means you share very old connections to that region that your family tree might not show.
