Can my haplogroup change over time?

Your biology can’t change — but our reading of it can get more precise over time.

Your biology can’t — the paternal lineage you were born with is fixed for life. What can change is our reading of it: as we improve the calling algorithm and reference data, a result may be refined to a more accurate branch, or an earlier call resting on an inconsistent marker may be corrected. The lineage is the same; the precision of how we describe it improves.
