I have many ancestors from the Irish and British, but the Celtic Index is 0%. How could this happen?

Updated over a week ago

Our Celtic Index is based on Continental Celtic archaeological cultures — Hallstatt, La Tène, and Gaul — which represent Iron Age groups mainly in Central Europe. These are genetically different from the Insular Celts of Ireland, Scotland, and Wales.

People with British Isles ancestry often reflect complex genetic layers from the Atlantic Bronze Age, early Neolithic farmers, and later migrations — not just the Continental Celtic gene pool our index focuses on. So a 0% Celtic Index doesn't mean you don't have Celtic roots. It means your DNA doesn't closely match the ancient Celtic samples we currently have available.
