How is this different from standard ethnicity estimates like AncestryDNA or 23andMe?

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Standard ethnicity estimates compare you to modern people alive today. They give you percentages like "30% Eastern European" or "20% Slavic" based on what's typical in current populations. Those reports usually look at the last few hundred to few thousand years.

Our Ancient Eastern European Report is completely different. We're not comparing you to modern populations at all. Instead, we match your whole genome against actual ancient DNA from excavated individuals. This lets us show you which prehistoric populations β€” Mesolithic hunter-gatherers, early farmers, Bronze Age herders, Iron Age communities β€” left the deepest mark on your ancestry.

Think of it less like an ethnicity estimate and more like an archaeological ancestry map.
