My sibling/parent isn't showing up in my DNA matches, even though we both have accounts. Why?

Updated over a week ago

The most common reasons:

  • Different testing platforms. If one of you uploaded from 23andMe and the other from AncestryDNA, the two services test different sets of genetic markers. We need at least 250,000 shared markers to make a match, and cross-platform files don't always meet that threshold.

  • Profile settings. Both profiles need to be set to "open" for matches to appear.

  • Processing issues. Occasionally, a file might have been processed with an error, or the other person's account may not have completed setup.

If you think a close match should be showing up, contact us with both account details and we'll look into it.

If you have a Genomelink account, go to genomelink.io/profile/contact and contact us from the form β€” we can help faster by checking your account log.

If you're a new user without an account yet, email us at info@genomelink.io.
